Ram Chandra Dom was born on February 8, 1959 in the village of Chilla, Bengal. He is a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). A doctor by profession, he was elected to the Lok Sabha for seven consecutive terms. He is the first member from Scheduled Castes to join the Politburo. Since 2018, he has been the National General Secretary of the Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch (DSMM), a front organization of backward castes of CPI(M).
